It was Freud's fate, as he observed not without pride, to agitate the sleep of manking. Half a century after his death, it seems clear that he succeeded for better than he expected through in ways he would not have appreciated. It is commonplace but true that we all speak Freud now correctly or not. We casually reer to oedipal conflicts and sibling rivalry, narcissisan and Freudian slips.
