Civilian Life

Civilian life on the home front varied between many different factors. It not only depended on if you lived in the North or the South, but also if you lived in an urban area or rural area in the North or South. Civilians in the North Sacrificed much less than civilians in the South, mainly because most of the war was fought in the South. As I mentioned before there are about four factors that determined what kind of life or they had.
In Northern cities many soldiers went to war, they left the wives and children to keep up the house, and the money. Many women had to find jobs or start their own businesses to keep income coming in while their husbands were off at war. In some cases when children weren’t at school they were working to contribute to the family salary. For the rich people, the war did not affect them as much. They could pay someone to serve in the army in their place, so that the men could stay home and keep up with their businesses. This may sound kind of bad, but...
