CHURCH INVOLVEMENT IN SOCIAL TRANSFORMNATION

The Church’s resolve to participate in the process of social transformation is based on permanent principles emanating from the sacred scriptures, the teachings of the church fathers and from the discoveries on modern human sciences.
Christianity started as a religious movement headed by Christ. What he established was not an institution but an intimate group of believers who lived by His teachings about the Kingdom of God. The movement dared to oppose the excesses of the heads of the Roman Empire including the religious leaders of this time.

Because of this, they got the ire of the Roman as well as the religious leaders. The persecution began. Christ was crucified but his disciples bravely held on to their faith.

The years that followed were difficult for them. Holding on to the Christian faith means death. They secretly met in caves under the nights’ darkness. They hid in fear and trembled. But in the face of persecution they never lose hope. They stubbornly held...
