Church and State; God is not “PC” anymore.
The recent case in Alabama regarding the removal of a monument of the Ten Commandments caught my attention. This type of fear seems to be rising up everywhere. I always thought that the religious conflicts were all in the South, the “Bible Belt”. However, our own government is getting in on the act. The Americans United for Separation of Church and State along with those who claim to be atheist’s would like to see the removal of all religious symbolism from the governmental domain (World News Digest, 2003). I do not agree. I would like to discuss the first amendment, where the church and state already meet and where our government is taking us.
