Chromosomes

Chromosomes – Tightly compacted bodies of DNA and protein.

Chromatin – A complex of DNA and protein which are found in eukaryotic chromosomes.

Karyotype – A set of chromosomes.

Diploid – When a human cell contains 23 pairs of chromosomes.

Haploid – When a human cell contains only 23 single chromosomes (NOT PAIRS).

Sex Chromosomes – Chromosomes that are one of the 23 sets that determine whether a person is male or female.
