Christmas has it lost its true meaning?

When the twenty-fifth of December starts to creep up each year the first thing that comes into most peoples head is, “What do I want this year for Christmas?” and the answer is usually the latest toy or game that is out at that time. Hardly any one will stop to thinking about the real reason why we celebrate Christmas, which is that it was the day that Christ was born. The religious side to Christmas is slowly starting to fade away. It is now just a chance for adults to get together and have a drink and for kids to get the latest toy that has just came out. It is no longer about celebrating Christ’s birthday.
I am going to discuss this point and hopefully explain why I feel that Christmas is just about a chance to get drunk and get the best toy out in the shops. There are of course points both for and against this so I will discuss both sides.
