Chinese Marriage, Past and Present

Have you ever heard the saying ”opposites attract”? It describes the relationship between a husband and a wife. Even though all of the marriages are the union of a man and a woman, each marriage has its differences. I am from a traditional Chinese family and my parents just celebrated their thirty-fifth anniversary. I compared past Chinese marriage and current Chinese marriage, and found marriage in China is now undergoing change. People are getting married later, and the percentage of people getting married continues to drop as divorce rates rise. Truly arranged marriages are becoming very rare, and marriages by free choice are nearly universal.
First of all, the motivation for marriage is changing. In the past, people married as a traditional custom or to have sons to continue the family line.
