Children and Language

“Language is both receptive and expressive.” If a young child is not given the opportunity to both hear, and mimic words and sounds, problems in language development can occur. With the help of early childhood teachers, other school personnel, a child with a language development problem can be brought up to the developmental level they should be at.
In the classroom, silence is not golden. Spoken words, especially conversations between children and teachers and children, are opportunities for learning, and should take place throughout the day. In just three years, a child can hear, mimic, explore, practice and learn language. Language is not genetic. There is no genetic code in the human body that determines which language a child will speak....
