A child cannot be a disciple and therefore they cannot be a Christian.


A Christian is a follower of Christ and a disciple is a baptised Christian. When one is baptised not only are they automatically baptised into the Kingdom Of God but also they also officially become a disciple.
This implies that the statement/question is incorrect, however it can be argued that due to the fact that children are too young to fully comprehend the commission as a disciple (as outlined in chapter 16 of mark’s gospel) they cannot be expected to carry out it out.
