Child rearing then and now

My Opinion of Child Rearing, Then and Now.
Times are always changing. You see this fact in everything, from the prices of food and clothing, to the prices of housing and automobiles. But, where I see the biggest changes are in the way children are being raised. I came from a split family with seven children altogether. I am the oldest child in my family at the age of thirty-one.
Growing up, my mother stressed a few important values that she felt all children should know. These values consisted of love, respect, honesty, and responsibility. My mother also valued education, taking pride in a job well done, and motivation. These were just some of the things that I have learned from my mother.
Discipline was also on the list. This, at times, I had to learn the hard way, as many children do. I can clearly remember many hours spent with my face in the corner of a wall. I could not lean or sit. I had to stand hands at my sides, with my face in the corner. There were no threats spoken. S...
