Child psychologist Anna-Maria Mora has called on men in T&T to take control of their lives in an effort to help stamp out child abuse in our society.
Mora said the reason there is so much violence among our youth, is because of the violence they may have experienced in their lives as young children and are now perpetrating against society.
She also called on Government to put more funding towards counselling programmes and centres, saying it is an “expensive” job to fix the many wrongs which have happened to the human resources of T&T in the past.
Moora, who operates at Families in Action, on Maraval Road, Port-of-Spain, said the reason men are mostly guilty of the crime is because they have been socialised to be the more powerful of the two sexes and they abuse their power.
She noted women have had more control over their lives and are now more out-spoken.
Moora said because men are now threatened by that and are less inclined to attack women, they are targeting children...
