Glory, a movie about the Massachusetts 54th, the first all-black Union regiment led by white leader Robert Shaw. This depiction of the true story brought out the feelings of the black soldiers who fought, along with, their white commanders. Two character’s feelings truly evolve throughout the movie, one being Robert Shaw and second being Silas Trip.
Robert Shaw is the colonel of the Massachusetts 54th who took on this position after it being offered by the governor. At the beginning of the movie Robert’s treats his men as they were treated throughout there life, that of disrespect and as if they were animals. Thomas, a close friend of Robert, was even treated poorly by him, disregarding the past the two had. In a couple of cases Robert completely ignores what Thomas has to say and basically blows him off.
