Cesar and Cleopatra by Bernard Shaw

In the play, Caesar and Cleopatra, by Bernard Shaw, two characters defy everyone with the odds against them. Cleopatra, a woman and Queen of Egypt, is perceived as a teenage sex symbol. The biggest misconception about her intelligence is that because she’s a woman, she’s doomed to failure. Caesar, a dominating figure in the eyes of many Romans, uses his enigmatic skills and seeks vengeance from the Egyptians. Caesar and Cleopatra, contrasting in efforts of dominion and wealth, similar in having the will to acquire what they desire.
Shaw describes Cleopatra’s character as being dumbfounded and ignorant on the exterior. Her actions and strategic moves would suggest otherwise. What ...
