Caught in The Fear
Through out the world, and especially in the United States fear of new ways and new ideas functions as a weight on human intellect. Unfortunately, this fear typically only serves to perpetuate intolerance and irrational thought. The theme of irrational thought and intolerance executes a very large role in both “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street”, and also in Stephen Benét’s essay, “We Aren’t Superstitious”.
