Abstract:

A catalytic converter is a device that we use now to convert pollutant from the engine’s exhaust to less harmful gases. Different catalytic converters have been investigated throughout the years to improve the disadvantages that the existed device has.
In this paper, we will talk about the basic structure for each of the catalytic converters, the detail of conversion process from harmful gases to less harmful gases, the advantages and disadvantages for the converters, the solutions for the disadvantages, and how to maintain catalytic converters for longer lifetimes. Also, possible trends for the future catalytic converter will also be briefly discussed.
