CARE

Part One:

The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10th 1948. One of the aims of the declaration is to protect the rights of individuals by law by teaching and educating individuals to promote respect for the rights of others. This does not only benefit the individual but society as a whole and also encourages positive relations with other countries. The declaration contains a variety of thirty articles. Below is a list of eight of the key points of the declaration relevant to my work placement.

- Article 1 promotes equality and dignity

- Article 3 the right to live independently
- Article 5 promotes community care/de-institutionalisation
- Article 6 right to individuality
