Cardiovascular system

The cardiovascular system is made up of your heart, blood vessels and blood. Its major function is to transport nutrients, blood oxygen and water to body cells and remove waste products from body cells. The heart is the major organ of the circulatory system. It is an involuntary muscle, which acts as a pump, transporting blood all around your body. The heart is located in the center of your chest between your ribs. It is the shape of appear and about the same size as your clenched fist. Blood plays a major role in transporting the oxygen necessary for your body cells to function, and also carries waste products (such as carbon dioxide) back to the lungs for disposal.
