According to the article, the author feels that his message is not to make prisons more miserable than they are. The author says that prison is nothing but a punishment from those with power upon those who are less powerful. He feels that if we continue to make prisons worse by cutting back on programs that there will be an all out war of violence. The author also feels cutting back on programs will not work, but by breaking the cycle of violence and offering inmates a chance to heal like a human and not heel like a dog will work. He concludes his article by saying that prisoners have a right to our compassion and understanding no matter how heinous their crimes, that they have a right to hope after they’ve done their time become welcome members in society.
I agree with some points this author brings up, but with others, I am totally against. He says prison is nothing more than a punishment from the powerful against the weak. A...
