Can and Should sociology be Scientific?

This question is not as simple as it might first appear. Within sociology there are different perspectives and methodological approaches, and their opinions on the subject of whether sociology should be a science differ.
Classical Sociologists such as Comte, Quetelet, Durkheim and Marx all believe that sociology should be approached in a scientific manner, and that statistical data needs to be gathered so that cause and effect could be proven properly. This approach to sociology is a positivist one, and positivists believe that it is important for Sociology to be objective, value-free and reliable. and now i need to write more words,because my essay isnt long enough, how annoying, im just going to write a load of crap, because i cant be bothered to givea good essay. Hell, bye, im here, im there, this is a complete load of random stuff, i think ive reached the 250 word mark now!
