It has recently come to my attention that Travis Rhoda of my 6th hour English class has been diagnosed with bipolar disease. This revelation explains a lot of the actions that I have observed over the course of this school year. Hopefully my observations as his teacher can help to better diagnose and treat Travis.
Early on in the year, I noticed that Travis did not have many friends. When an opportunity arouse to work in a group, Travis would have to be placed by me into a group because nobody seemed to want to work with him. When I privately asked a member of the class why this was, he responded that he found Travis to be very hard to work with because without warning Travis would become depressed and inconsolable, and at other times he would be so excited and joyous that he became quite annoying. He claimed that Travis was a very hard partner to work with because he was seldom in the mood to do any serious work, he was either too up, or too down; very rarely was he in a mellow ...
