Burning of candles

Purpose:
The objective of experiment 13 is to analyze some often overlooked aspects of the process of burning a candle, including oxygen consumption and the complexities of combustion.

Procedure:
I attached a candle to a glass square by melting wax onto it. My first observation was holding a beaker in the flame for a few seconds and then wiping it off. Next, I held a watch glass with ice over the candle and observed the condensation. After this I weighed the candle and plate and then placed a flask over the burning candle. Then I weighed the candle and plate again. After this I put two candles on the plate and placed the flask over both them noting the time it took them to become extinguished. I then put just one candle on a plate and placed it in a metal pan with water up to about a quarter inch.
