British Imperialism in Congo

Belgian Congo, Congo Free State, Congo, Kongo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zaire, whatever you want to call this area there is no denying the fact that it has been through some of the roughest times of any region out there. These times have been devastating for a more than one hundred years now. They look like they may just now be beginning to turn around. One of the most devastating times for this country was during the age of imperialism (1855-1914). This is an important time to understand, because it seems as though it may be repeating itself in our world today. So it is necessary to look at the consequences of these times and decide if it is worth it or not. While this all happened to Congo starting more than one hundred years ago, they are still suffering today.
