Alex Flinn grew up in Syosset, New York, and Miami, Florida. She studied vocal performance at the University of Miami and went on to become a lawyer. While in law school, she interned the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, trying several domestic violence cases. It was this experience, along with serving as a volunteer and mentor at the Inn Transition facility for battered women and their children, that led her to write Breathing Underwater, her first novel. Alex lives in Miami with her husband, Eugene, and their daughters, Katherine and Meredith.
