Book Report on Kinds of Minds by Daniel C. Dennett

For this book report I have chosen to read Kinds of Minds, by Daniel C. Dennett. In this book, Dennett attempts to provide a more general explanation of consciousness. The book is short, but filled with examples and hypothetical situations in which Dennett investigates consciousness. From the start of the book, Dennett asks, “What kinds of minds are there? And how do we know? These two questions, the first ontological and the second epistemological, sets the course for the book. Throughout the rest of the book, Dennett explores and investigates how to answer these two questions.
Dennett divides the book into 6 main chapters, each chapter with a few sub-parts. The first chapter discusses the aforementioned questions above, what kinds of minds are there and how do we know. The second chapter discusses the notion of “intentionality” and Dennett goes into what the intentional stance is. The third chapter entitled “The body and its Minds”
