Was Molière a Character in Tartuffe

I believe Damis, the son of Orgon, in the play Tartuffe, represents Molière’s character the best. Damis does not discontinue what he is doing because of what someone says, just like Molière did not give up being an actor and playwright because his parents said he shouldn’t. Molière, like Damis lost his inheritance from his parents by acting in a way that their parents did not see fit. Their many similarities lead the reader to believe that Molière is portrayed by Damis in Tartuffe.
