Boarding Wars
Access denied…is what many snowboarders are used to hearing when trying to ride the mountains at many resorts. This issue is more timely than ever as the battle between those who wish to segregate and those who wish to free the slopes heats up. At resorts all around the country, snowboarders are taking an aggressive stance against the prejudicial treatment of snowboarders as a minority. Over the past couple of years, everyone except a handful of central Vermont yuppies and hippies has came to see that these strictly skiing resorts views are about as froward thinking and practical as a single chair lift.
While the mainstream public may have heard of snowboarding only in the last decade, it has a history. One of the granddaddies of snowboarding was the surfer (Jack Burton Carpenter).
