Character - Deckard

Deckard at the start of the film understands less about life and what it is to be human than Roy and the other replicants. But as Deckard seeks the replicants, he learns something about his own humanity.

Deckard Is one of the most indepth characters in Blade runner. His role is important to the outcome and to the various themes in the movie. In the opening shots, we are introduced to Deckard as a ‘loner’, isolated from the rest of the ‘world’. Our first impression gives us that Deckard is cold and heartless. He address Rachel cruelly telling her she is a replicant, despite the importance of a replicant’s past. Deckard is a bounty-hunter and murderer, killing the replicants whose only crime is to seek a longer life.
