Black Post-Modernists Texts

If one were to speak loosely about literary text, one could say that any piece of work written after the 1920’s should be considered modernist text. The Modern Era was one of experimentation. The self was more of a focus. No longer was nationalism and patriotism the only focus of authors and poets. The better of the country took a back seat to self-reflection and personal issues. The same characteristics plus many more can be found in the description of literature during the Harlem Renaissance Era. If one paid close attention to the evolution of literature throughout the 20th century it would be hard to ignore the effect of the Modern Era and all of its experimentation.
