Black Beauty was written by the British author Anna Sewell (182O-1878). It was finished in 1877 and it was her only book. Because of an injury in her childhood, she became invalid and had to rely on a carriage drawn by horse for transportation. With the help of horses in her childhood, she had a strong love for them and also had a strong will to let out the true lives of them in order to expose the how cruelly the human beings treat their animal friends.(1)
This novel was written in first person style about the whole life with twists and turns of a horse - Black Beauty. He is born in a large pleasant meadow of a fazenda and he is taught to be gentle and good by his mother. His parents both have a great name in good temper, so he learns manners from childhood, he never even kicks or bites in play. As his owner of that fazenda is a good and kind man, he has a happy time.
