Biology

I think that Mr Brown’s pondweed is thin and straggly because the high wall surrounding the pond is limiting light.
Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants trap sunlight and absorb it to make their own food. Sunlight provides energy and plants take this energy and make it available for chemical energy. Chlorophyll, the green pigment present in the chloroplasts, is the catalyst for the process and it is the substance that actually traps the sunlight. It is able to absorb light and use it to separate the water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. This is known as the “light” reaction. Oxygen escapes from the leaf and the hydrogen molecules are added to the carbon dioxide molecules forming sugar. The rate of photosynthesis can be affected by a number of LIMITING FACTORS. A limiting factor is something that restricts a process. Light is a limiting factor. Increasing light concentration can increase the rate of photosynthesis up to a certain concent...
