I. Molecules:
o Covalent - involves atoms sharing electrons, the primary bonds in biological molecules.
o What is the pH of solution. The pH of a solution is defined by the measure of H+ ions relative to the number of OH- ions. The higher the ratio of H+ to OH-, the lower the pH, and the more acidic the substance is. What does it mean to have a high or low pH? What pH is an acidic food? The pH of a solution is defined by the measure of H+ ions relative to the number of OH- ions. The higher the ration of H+ to OH-, the lower the pH, and the more acidic the substance is. By increasing the number of hydrogen atoms you have, lowers pH. As a solution becomes more basic, its pH rises. Thus the higher the pH, the more basic the solution; and the lower the pH, the more acidic the solution.
o What is the difference of something with pH 2 and pH3 in terms of hydrogen ion concentration? A substance w/ a pH of 3 has 10 times as basi...
