Bills and laws

Dozens of Maryland laws are going into effect on Wednesday, October 1, 2003. The State of Maryland is not changing the laws, but stretching them for more protection for the citizens. Originally, children the age of four or that weigh more than forty pounds were allowed to sit on a car seat without a safety seat or a booster seat, but starting from October they have to be over the age of six to sit in the car seat. Marijuana laws on the other hand have become more lenient. People charged for violating marijuana laws can convince the judges that they were using it for medical purposes, and the most severe punishment would be a one hundred dollar fine and no jail time.
