Bi Polar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a brain instability which causes bizarre changes in a person’s mood, energy, and ability to function. It is also called manic- depression. There are more than two million American adults have this disorder. These mood swings are unlike the normal ups and downs that people experience. Symptoms can be very critical and affect their entire life. This results in broken relationships, mediocre job or school performance, and suicide. Each case is very different. Some patients can come across symptoms in their early adolescence or later in life.
Manic-depression distorts a person’s moods and thoughts. For example, they have racing thoughts one minute and the next they feel worthless and feel disconnected from the world. The different periods of highs and lows are called mania and depression.
