Beowulf

Beowulf is an epic poem that combines the contrasting beliefs of traditional Paganism and modern Christianity. The majority of the characters in Beowulf were once Pagans, which is based on the belief of many gods. Many characters were terrified of the newly uprising of monotheism, belief in one god, which was present in Christianity. Beowulf was written in a time when Christianity was a newly growing religion in England. Throughout the book there are obvious references to both Christian and Pagan rituals. This can be seen when Grendel is attacking Heorot, the origins of Grendel, and the burial of Beowulf.
