Beef Stew: Irony in O. Henry's "The Third Ingredient"

In O. Henry’s “The Third Ingredient,” the use of irony helps to make this work
humorous. Verbal irony is shown in the very first sentence of the story when
Henry states that the Vallambrosa Apartment House is not really an apartment
house. Just as one expects a dentist’s office to be an actual dentist’s office, one
