Australian Parliament

In Australia there are two chambers of parliament: the House of Representatives (the lower house) and The Senate (the upper house). The Governor-General also plays an important part, as he represents the Queen, he must approve and sign all federal bills. In these chambers parliamentary debates occur, conflicts affecting the public and major issues are discussed.
The HOR consists of 148 representatives who are each elected for a three -year term. The person in the HOR who maintains order is called the speaker, he is elected by the house and must remain partial in his rulings.
