Augustus

Positive Contributions of Augustus

There has been an ongoing debate throughout history whether or not a single individual can change the grand scheme of time. It is my belief that leaders of the world can indeed have huge effects on the outcome of time with their decisions. The world would be a different place today if not for the actions of many past world leaders. Augustus’ legacy started when his father, Julius Caesar, was assassinated. After his father’s murder, Augustus set out to change the Roman lifestyle and government. In doing this he strengthened families and became a strong ruler.
One positive change for Rome brought by Augustus was to its lifestyle and government. Under Augustus, the Roman Empire had more direction and organization. Augustus did this by changing the Roman Republic into a monarchy (King, pg. 140). Augustus established colonies of army veterans, drove out pirates, and expanded frontiers (Rogers, pg. 207).
