Athens and Sparta

ATHENS & SPARTA

People have many different thoughts about Athens and Sparta. Some may say Athens was the best city-state, others may say Sparta was the greatest city-state in Greece. Whichever you prefer, you should know that Athens and Sparta are like all other cities and states. They have likes and differences. If you look at Athens for a while and then go on to look at Sparta, you would say that these were two totally different city-states. However, if you venture deeper inside each ones culture and ways of life you will be surprised how they are a little alike.
First, lets take a look at Athens. Athens derived from the Delian League, it was known as a great city-state. It was a very well run place, and had a lot to be proud of. Athens is located in Attica, North of Peloponnesus, where the Spartans lived. Athens was right on the water, so they were a seafaring city-state.
