This article was about a determined sixteen-year-old, tenth grader named Andrea Axtell and how her curiosity led to a prize at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Andrea read an article last summer about how a family got lost in an Arizona desert. They said that they felt that they were walking in circles. Andrea became interested in finding out if lost people really did walk in circles when they didn’t know where they were going.
To find the answers, Andrea researched in the library, finding out that structures in the middle ear affect how a person balances.
