To many Aristotle is considered, “one of the greatest figures in the history of western thought.” To others he was just a pupil under Plato, a teacher, physician, scientist, and a philosopher on anything from Metaphysics to reason. But as you will see, Aristotle was more than just these titles; this man’s life was an epic of brilliance.
Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. at Stagirus, a Greek colony and seaport on the coast of Thrace. His father Nichomachus was the family physician of King Amyntas of Macedonia, and from this began “Aristotle's long association with the Macedonian Court, which considerably influenced his life.” It is believed that Aristotle’s ancestors were all physicians to the court for many generations. Coming from a long-line of physicians, “he received training and education that influenced him for the rest of his life.” It probably was the “root cause of his less idealistic stand on philosophy as opposed to Plato.” While he ...
