Arguement for Utilitarianism vs. Dentology

The debate over two ethical theories that define morality are brought forth by
John Stuart Mill and Immanuel Kant. Mill, an advocate of utilitarianism believes that
the morality of an act is based on the greatest good that is done for the greatest amount of
people. This is the greatest happiness principal. Kant believes differently, he advocates
that a personal morality is based not on how many people are affected but by their
intention of the act that is performed.
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that says action that produces the greatest good
for the greatest number of people is the right action; other actions are wrong. Good in this
sense is understood to mean happiness, from this utilitarianism is referred to as the
“greatest happiness principal”. One who studies utilitarianism can reason that if people
were happier than they would be better people. In this sense the act of utilitarianism
is to increase the happiness in people and decrease their unhappines...
