Aquatic Fear Factor

Playfully burrowing my feet into the powdery, white sand and peering out at the crashing waves, I thought to myself that the water could not be so dreadful because my cousins seemed to be enjoying it as they splashed around and giggled happily. I decided to approach the water’s edge then slowly creep further out into the hydrous abyss that others refer to as the Caribbean Sea. As I inched into the water, my five year old mind began to tell me that I could actually enjoy this experience. The waves lapping lightly around my ankles felt just like warm, soothing bath water. As I ventured a few more feet into ocean, I filled my cupped hands with water and splashed the salty, blue liquid all over my body. Suddenly a towering shadow swelled in front of me and I stared in horror at the aquatic demon that was preparing to devour me.
