Apocalypse and Eschatology in Revelation

What is eschatology, what kind of work is Revelation, and where in the framework of Christianity is it situated? What are the stylistic characteristics of Revelation, and how does that connect with its messages? What is its message and how is the book to be understood?


Eschatology refers to the Judeo Christian idea of the coming of the kingdom of God and the transformation history; literally it is the, "discourse about the last things," which concerns life after death and the final stage of the world .The book of revelations claims to be an apocalypses (1:1), a prophecy (1:3) an epistle (1:4, 11: 22:21) and a vision (9:17) . It is written in the style of eschatological Judeo Christian literature of the time (200 BC to 100 AD). The text itself is believed to have been written sometime between the rein of Emperor Nero, and later Domonitian.
