Apartehid

South Africa shares something that many countries today share: a history of turmoil. For many years, the South African government practiced a policy known as apartheid, which was the legal segregation of races along with violence and human rights abuses. Sadly, this policy was practiced until the mid 1990s. In order to deal with the after effects of the policy of apartheid, a government institution known as The Truth and Reconciliation Commission; this continues to operate today.

After South Africa discontinued their policies of apartheid, the Government of National Unity, in an attempt to deal with the effects apartheid had left on South Africa’s citizens and morale, set up The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
