ANZ banking

The first Australian and New Zealand banking group limited (ANZ) was established in Melbourne the 1830’s. Melbourne is the ANZ world headquarters and most, if not all, official business is held there. In 1835 this bank was known as the ‘Bank of Australasia.’
The ANZ bank has a full and extensive history dating back over 150 years. (Page four through seven of report notes). Some of the highlights of the ANZ career are:
· ANZ began in London when The Bank of Australasia was established under Royal charter (1835) followed by several other bank openings in other countries
· ANZ (PNG) established (1976)
· Acquires 75 per cent of Bank of Western Samoa (1991)
· Opens a commercial banking branch in Manila, Philippines, the first Australian and New Zealand bank to do so (1995)
· www.anz.com launched (1996)
· ANZ Phone Banking launched (1997)
· ANZ Internet Banking launched (1999)
