Anger in Our Society

Our society clearly has problems with anger. We see violence acted out everyday in real life, and in television, but many do not recognize the anger within ourselves. Media shows us the results of this nager when left unregconized and unresolved- countless reports of injuries, road rage, acts or violence and even death. Anger is a signal that something in our lives need to be changed. So if this is true, what do we change, and how?
A common myth in our society is that anger is bad, and therefore must be eliminated. The problem begins with the fact that we as parents can not tolerate anger, so our children learn they are not able to express it. Child pyshcologist John Lanson explains that anger is a feeling like any other emotion, but because we can easily see the damage it causes we become afraid of it, and try to hide it from our children.
