Angela's Ashes Summary

I will now attempt to recall the events of “Angela’s Ashes”. To start off I will say that the author is Frank McCourt, and this book is his autobiography. He describes his childhood in significant detail, and with a remarkable amount of humor, especially considering that his childhood was absolutely miserable. But since these comments belong in my opinion, I will instead start with the events in the book.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The first few paragraphs sum up the book better then I or anyone else ever could. Through the entire book, but particularly the first chapter, these few paragraphs are valid. I’d say that the entire first chapter is spent on elaborating these first few paragraphs. But of course other things happen as well. Frank’s brothers are born, Oliver and Eugene, and a little later Frank’s mother gives birth to his sister, Margaret. Frankie’s father stops drinking because of his newly born daughter, but unfortunately Margaret dies, ...
