Analysis of Poe

The short story takes place in Italy during the time of the carnival. Montressor, the main character and narrator in the story, seeks revenge on Fortunato, his acquaintance. Montressor has told fortunado that he has found Amontillado (A light Spanish wine) and it is in the hands of Luchesi. Furtunado does not agree that a man like Luchesi could know what such a magnificent wine would taste like. When the two men arrive to the vaults, no one is around. They go into the vaults, which is where montressor tells furtunado that he is apart of the Mason, an exclusive organization. He does not believe him so they continue on. Montressor chains fortunado to the wall. He then begins to stone him in the crypt and leave him to die. The final words from the story are in Latin and they say, “May he rest in...
