Sit Com Assignment: Married With Children

1. The introduction of Married with Children is almost sarcastic – it begins with a picturesque shot of a fountain with a backdrop of Chicago and a cartoony jazz theme song, which would normally set the sitcom up for a light, witty comedy. However, once we see the introduction of the The Bundys (the main protagonists) the almost-friendly introduction has done a 180. The head of the household, Al Bundy, dishes out dollar bills to each family member with a “why me?” look on his face. From the excited looks of the children’s faces (Kelly and Bud), we get impression that they only care about getting their allowance without any consideration to how much it puts a damper on the father’s soul. The mother, Peg, seems as if she has nothing better to do than sit home and watch the Home Shopping Network. She has big, curly hair and the tackiest of clothing ensembles. Al hands her over a bill when she sits down to comfort him and she stuffs it...
