Analysing the love story of "like Water To Chocolate"

Like water to chocolate is a tragic love story, filled with the most magical recipes. A Mexican family with old traditions and a mother who strands her youngest daughter, Gertrudis, from falling in love and being happy. Gertrudis, was born, and raised in the kitchen and learnt the secrets of spiritual cooking. She is envied by her three sisters, and her mother, and is in love with a man, Juan, but their love is an impossible love because of the fate that is in store for them.
What I found most entertaining in this novel, turned into a movie, was the actual love story. The story of love and freedom Gertrudis and her secret lover battle to find, and how she uses cooking to express her love and sadness. Laura Esquive...
